About this place
Nekomata Blend, named after the nearby Nekomata-zaka slope, is cafe g’s signature coffee. Guatemala forms its base, while the other beans and their proportions change with the seasons. The result is a cup with deep, full-bodied flavour, well suited to a leisurely coffee break with a book. The coffee selection also includes seasonal single-origin brews and decaffeinated coffee made with dark-roasted Ethiopian beans. Decaf is available in iced coffee, café au lait and Viennese coffee, too.
For something sweet alongside a coffee, there is fragrant baked castella, Guatemalan cookies with a simple, crisp texture, and affogato, in which strong coffee is poured over cold ice cream. If choosing just one treat is difficult, the assorted sweets offer a chance to sample several. The menu also includes wine- and coffee-based drinks such as Café Parisai and Coffee Grog, making the café a calm place to enjoy a drink as evening approaches.
The cosy, house-like interior has bookshelves lined with a varied collection, from specialist titles to children’s books. For guests with young children, the children’s set pairs milk or apple juice with baked castella and a cookie. Takeaway drinks, coffee beans and convenient immersion-style coffee bags are also available, so you can bring a little of the café’s unhurried atmosphere home.
